Sometimes the most life-changing advice comes in the simplest words.
My friend Missy and I have always loved shopping together. She often says, “I look at it and ask myself, can I live without it?” If the answer is yes, she doesn’t buy it. That simple question has stayed with me. Now, whether I’m making decisions in my business or in life, I hear her words in my mind. It reminds me to slow down, think clearly, and choose wisely.

I also remember when her daughter, Crystal, gave me advice when I first opened my store. I was worried because people kept telling me my store was too small, and I started letting their opinions get to me. When I shared my concerns with her, she simply said, “Don’t stress about how much product you have—trust me, you have more than enough to work with. Tune out the negativity and focus on what you know.”I still hear her voice today. That advice helped me stop comparing myself to others, stop doubting myself, and start trusting what I was building.
Another powerful piece of advice came from a lawyer who told me, “I have never met a smart person who had pride.”That sentence changed my perspective completely. It made me realize how pride can keep us stuck—blocking growth, healing, learning, and peace. The moment I began letting go of ego and became more open to listening and learning, I started to feel a deeper sense of peace.
A close friend once told me, “Pay attention to what you repeatedly think about—you’re either feeding your peace or feeding your fear.” That reminder has stayed with me. Our thoughts shape our choices, our energy, and our lives. When we become aware of what we’re repeating in our minds, we can choose what to release and what to nurture.
And one simple but powerful reminder many of us need is: “Do what brings you peace, not what brings you pressure.” It sounds simple, but when you truly live by it, everything changes.
Sometimes people don’t realize how powerful their words are. A few honest sentences can stay with you forever—and sometimes, those words become the very thing that changes your life.
What advice was given to you that you still carry today? Comment below—I’d love to hear your story.
Love you all,Lynn
